Random tidbits

Still working on the Keto thing, but so far I’m really proud of myself for giving up carbs and sugar. It hasn’t been easy but I’ve stuck it out so far! I’ve been having fun experimenting with different foods and recipes. Last night I made salmon and asparagus foil packs and it turned out really well! I’ve never cooked salmon in my life so I was super pleased I didn’t screw it up!

Tonight I decided to try making a chocolate avocado pudding I saw online and it ended up being pretty good, though still a slight bit avocadoey- I read if you refrigerate it that minimizes that, so we’ll see how it tastes tomorrow. 🤣

Otherwise it’s been kind of a boring week with the exception of a couple things.

1. I got bit by a green anole the other day. I was trying to grab it and save it from the cats (which I’m sure would have been hilarious to watch because those damn heifers are fast) and when I finally grabbed it the dang thing bit me on the arm for my trouble. It’s not like it hurt or anything but it caught me by surprise because it basically grabbed a hunk of skin and shook it like a dog. 🤣🤣 Who knew?!!

Not here to sell car insurance…

Then today my daughter insisted we let the cats nap with us, which is fine if they’re sleeping and not acting like fools. I woke up to see this…

If you look closely you’ll see it’s actually two cats. Beans’s head is down by her hand, and his feet are actually propped up on her face. Look between her face and his legs and you’ll see Raisin, happily sleeping stuffed in there under the covers. Lol!!! I can’t believe it lasted long enough for me to snap a photo!

Monday we start a huge home updating project, Phase 1 – we have a TON of higher end wood paneling and trim in our home straight out of the 80s. I’ll be adding some before pics this weekend and also progress pics through the week! Although it wasn’t my choice to update all this I’m trying to imagine the pretty modern farmhouse look we’re going for and I think I’ll like it in the end. Guess we’ll see!!

Strap that baby to a chair!!

No seriously guys, this one is for all you mamas of little ones out there!

Secure, and mostly happy.

I found this amazing invention on Amazon the other day and wanted to give it a try. I have my beloved “Tie Chair” but to be honest the bulk and complication of the whole thing makes it difficult to take with us to restaurants and whatnot. I get tired of trying to stuff it in a diaper bag or my purse, tired of trying to tie the knots secure enough, and let’s face it. I’m just tired. 😉

This “Cozy Cover” looked interesting, and the price wasn’t bad, so I thought – I’m already buying crap on Amazon so WHY NOT? AMIRIGHT? It came the other day but I didn’t take it out of the box until yesterday to try it out.

ERMAGERD you guys, this thing is super easy to put on the chair, the shoulder straps are nice and secure (much to my son’s annoyance LOL), and it folds up (or stuffs into, if you’re like me) a little tiny pouch that fits in just about any purse or diaper bag. I LOVE IT! Plus it’s machine washable. BONUS.

I seriously hate restaurant high-chairs (if they even HAVE them half the time), because they look like they’ve been through some kind of high school food fight several years back and never cleaned, OR they’re rickety, OR the buckle on the safety strap is broken, OR they’re missing the crotch strap and your son manages to clothesline himself on the waist bar…. (don’t ask me how I know THAT), OR any ungodly combination of the above. This solves all of that – for realz…..

Unless your restaurant has stools with no backs instead of chairs…. if that’s the case, you’re just screwed. Good luck. 😉

Baby Makeover!

This dude got a LONG overdue haircut today, and while it was kind of like wrestling a guinea pig on steroids, we managed to get it done! I didn’t realize how long it had actually gotten until I did the side by side. He looks like a mushroom on the left. 😂

In other “I’m an amazing mom and wife” news, I tried out this Cuban Chicken, Rice, and Black Bean Bowl recipe this evening from Half-baked Harvest. I’d seen a recipe of hers that a friend tried and started following her blog. This one was yummy AND healthy, and everyone (except the kids of course *sigh*) seemed to really enjoy it!

And in planning news, check out this awesome states tracker I got from Caffeine Queens on Etsy! I only have 8 states left to check off my bucket list and I’ll have been to all 50! I think Wade and I should start just planning some long weekend trips and get those crossed off, don’t you?

Tomorrow I have an awesome memory keeping video to share with you… if I can figure out how to rotate it 90 degrees before I post it. 🤦‍♀️😂
